7 Reasons Why Every BBQ Restaurant Should Have A Bar

Having a bar in a BBQ joint sounds like a no-brainer, right? Well, believe it or not, some BBQ restaurants don’t have one!

That’s because full-service BBQ restaurants with bars are actually a relatively new style of BBQ dining and it’s easy to see why it’s a growing trend: a bar in a BBQ restaurant brings locally crafted beers and natural, locally sourced BBQ meats together to create an amazing match. Not to be outdone, Americana style cocktails infused with fruit also pair splendidly with some ‘que. At F250, we take pride in having a bar, as we believe it takes BBQ to the next level. Here are our seven reasons why every BBQ restaurant should have a bar:

1. Ordering a drink with your ‘que should come standard!
Nothing beats enjoying an ice cold drink with some ‘que on a hot summer day! Whether it’s a beer, cocktail or even sweet tea, all ice cold drinks are delicious with BBQ. F250 offers a large selection of local craft beers, such as Track 7 and Jack Rabbit, cocktails and wine, so that everyone is happy! Not only does a drink and BBQ taste amazing, but the vibe it creates is just right!

2. Beer brings out and intensifies the meat’s flavors!
Not only does beer taste great with BBQ, but it can also intensify certain flavors. A beer with dark roasted malts, for example, can intensify the smoky flavors in brisket. Try the Deschutes Obsidian Stout with our smoked brisket and see for yourself!

3. Four words: Jack Daniels and BBQ!
It’s no secret that Jack Daniels and barbecue are a great combination. It’s such a good one that people even put it in their BBQ sauce. Try our Lynchburg Lemonade containing Jack Daniels, triple sec and lemon juice. It’s guaranteed to make a tasty pairing!

F250 Bar 24. There is no better way to enjoy tri-tip than with a glass of red wine!
Wines that are full-bodied with a dark berry flavor and some tannin, such as Zinfandel, pair very well with tri-tip. Some people even make their tri-tip marinade from Zinfandel because the two create a delicious combination. Try our tri-tip with a glass of the 2011 Sobon Cougar Hill Zinfandel to give your taste buds a new experience!

5. An ice cold beer will tame your mouth after eating hot BBQ sauce!
It’s true, beer really does cool down your mouth after eating spicy BBQ sauce! The carbohydrates in beer coat your tongue and decrease heat levels. Next time you take a bite of ‘que with our F250 hot BBQ sauce, remember to order an ice cold beer to put out the fire.

6. A Moscow Mule and some ‘que can’t get more American!
Did you know that the Moscow Mule was made in America? The Moscow Mule was created in 1941 in Los Angeles, California by John G. Martin at the Cock ‘n’ Bull restaurant on Sunset Boulevard. This drink introduced vodka to the American public. The Moscow Mule quickly became popular and still is to this day. Martin was also the owner of Smirnoff Vodka, and after he created the Moscow Mule, his sales skyrocketed. At F250, our Moscow Mule is made with vodka, lime juice, Angostura Bitters, ginger beer and fresh ginger served in a copper mug. Fun fact: In 2012, a Moscow Mule kit was featured in Oprah Winfrey’s Favorite Things list.

7. Oak wood belongs in a BBQ restaurant!
Whiskey barrels are made with oak wood, which also happens to be what we use at F250 to smoke our barbecue. Our locally seasoned oak is blended with local fruit woods and creates a special, smoky characteristic within our meat that leaves just enough smoke without overpowering the meats’ natural flavor. Some people actually use whiskey barrels to smoke their meat! Check it out here
